New Year Resolution: Use Your Bread Machine!

Published on 27th January 2014

Let's face it, this time of the year can be pretty grim. All the excitement of the Christmas and New Year's festivities have passed, leading us into gloomy old January, but it doesn't have to be that way. If you have those jaded and faded post-Christmas blues, we suggest cranking out the trusty bread machine.

Who Wants To Walk To the Shops In The Cold Rain?

Who wants to venture out for a loaf when the weather outdoors is abysmal, to say the least? With a few basic ingredients, you can put your bread maker to good use, stick the heating on and enjoy the comforting aroma of fresh bread wafting through your home. No need to poke your head out of your front door, with fresh, warm bread on demand!

Bread Machine Winter Warmer Ideas

Now, certain spices have a wonderfully warming effect. No, we don't mean hot chillies, although if that's your thing, by all means go for it! Spices such as cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg have wonderfully relaxing and reassuring scents. These can be incorporated into any loaf with ease, and you don't have to make it too sweet.

Get Adventurous With Spices and Aromas

A touch of cinnamon, vanilla or nutmeg with dried fruit, seeds or nuts can be delicious. Nevertheless, some of us have more savoury tastes, so experiment! You don't have to make flat breads and naans, but a dab of authentic Indian spices could lead to a loaf that lends itself to lime pickle and mango chutney. Now that's a unique way of warming yourself up with freshly baked bread.

Nothing Beats Warm Bread

Naturally, cold bread simply can't compete with a freshly baked warm loaf. The beauty of bread machines is you can set them so you can have your loaf exactly when you need it most. Do you want warm bread on a cold frosty morning? No problem. What better way to start the day? Of course, as we've already mentioned, many of us are fighting that festive bulge, so you might want to go easy on thick slices and toppings!

Regardless of what you do or don't do with your bread maker, you can't deny that this is the time of year for hot food! We all need something that warms us from the inside out once the ice and snow arrives. So, make the most out of your bread machine this winter!
